FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- The old Kroger store at State Blvd. and Spy Run, which has sat vacant for close to seven years, has been purchased and will become almost 50,000 square feet of storage space.

Fort Wayne Storage bought the property and plans to renovate the building into a two-story storage space with 400 climate controlled units.

"We saw a very unique opportunity, not only to have a presence in central Fort Wayne/downtown area but also to help revitalize the community, to help pick up this area of town," Kyle Zimmerman, General Manager of Fort Wayne Storage told 21Alive. "And also we just really felt that this was an underserviced market and so we felt really excited about coming in and having this opportunity to serve this community."

The units are expected to become available for rent this July.
