FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - With the expansion of trails throughout Fort Wayne, a local organization is hoping for the commitment of more trails on the south end of town.

Urban Trails held a ride Tuesday night in the Hanna Street and Pontiac Street area in support of a trail that would run in that part of the community.

Organizers say for many people in the Hanna Street neighborhood, a trail is a necessity because walking or biking is a primary mode of transportation

Urban Trails says it has worked with Rivergreenway officials on projects since 2010, and this proposed trail was initiated about a year ago.

The group hopes City Council takes up the plan, and approves a longer trail to accommodate many who may use the trail.
