Fort Wayne, Ind (21Alive) - This afternoon, runners pounded the pavement at Summit Middle School to help bring a world-class trail network to Fort Wayne.

Money raised for the second Annual Trail Blazer 5k-10k will help unlock millions of dollars in matching grants. And in the next few years, leaders hope to add six miles of trails in each quadrant of the city.

That would connect more of the 70 miles of existing trails, which were used nearly half a million times in 2012 alone.

It can cost up to one million dollars to build one mile of trails. That's about $170 a foot.
