WASHINGTON, D.C. (21Alive) -- The U.S. Government says they have caught a "key figure" in the attacks on two U.S. facilities two years ago in Benghazi, Libya.
ABC News reports that Ahmed Abu Khattala was detained by American military and law enforcement personnel in Libya earlier today. Khattala, who had been secretly indicted indicted in the U.S. for his role in the attacks, is currently being held on a U.S. Navy Ship waiting transport to the United States.
He stands accused of "killing a person in the course of an action on a federal facility," providing and conspiring to provide "material support to terrorists resulting in death" and using a firearm in relation to a violent crime. Additional charges could be added in the coming days, according to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
