FORT WAYNE, Ind (21Alive) -- Officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a call of women screaming in the 2600 block of Fairfield View Place around 4:00 a.m. this morning.

An officer responding to the call was flagged down around the area of Fairfield and Creighton by a motorist transporting a woman to the hospital. Medics arrived and transported the woman to a local hospital, where it was determined that the woman was suffering from a stab wound. She remains in critical condition.

After investigating, officers learned that the stab wound was the result of a domestic disturbance between the woman and 21-year-old Michael R. Johnson. Johnson was later apprehended without incident at his home in the 300 block of E. McKinney Avenue.

Johnson has been jailed with a preliminary charge of Felony Aggravated Battery.
