AUBURN, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - After months of painstaking repair, the Spencerville covered bridge has now been deemed safe for traffic. The structure passed its final inspection this morning.

Last fall, a truck driver from Illinois drove his rig over the bridge causing $103,000 of damage to the 140 year old structure.

Since then restoration work has been underway with close attention being paid to every detail.

The truck driver pleaded guilty in the case, and was sentenced to 180 days behind bars.
