FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Many people are thankful for a day off on Thanksgiving, but for some it's just another day on the job.

"I came in at 9:00 and I will be here until 7:00 tonight. So I'll probably be out of here around 8:00 tonight," said Jessica Gallegos, Server, Cracker Barrel.

Jessica Gallegos works at the Cracker Barrel on Coldwater Road in Fort Wayne. Many restaurants, like Cracker Barrel, serve their own turkey dinners, and dining out on Thanksgiving is very popular.

"Over 2,000 people will come through today," said Sandy Thompson, General Manager, Cracker Barrel.

It's not just meals people are looking for on Thanksgiving. Movie theaters are another popular spot, and, with so many people traveling, gas stations are another place that can't close their doors simply because it's a holiday.

While working a holiday can be tough some are thankful to have a busy day at work, and have an opportunity to make some extra cash.

"I make quite a bit of money today so it's definitely worth it, especially with Christmas coming up," said Jessica Gallegos.

In fact, to make more money, Jessica decided to pick up extra shifts on Thanksgiving. She says her family knows this is what she wants to do so they prepare a Thanksgiving feast on Sunday to make up for it.
