Shake Up In Fort Wayne Fire Department Command (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - 21Alive has learned that Amy Biggs has resigned as chief of the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

21Alive has been told by multiple sources that Biggs, Mayor Tom Henry, D-Fort Wayne, an attorney for the City of Fort Wayne, Biggs' attorney and Public Safety Director Rusty York met last Friday.

Another meeting between those officials was expected to take place late Monday afternoon, 21Alive is told, to set up Biggs' departure.

Biggs was sworn in as Fort Wayne fire chief on July 2, 2012. She is the first woman to serve as fire chief.

According to a press release from the city, Biggs' last day will be June 1st.
