ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- Teachers at one East Allen County school have a new tool designed to keep their students focused and in the classroom.

Thursday morning, Southwick Elementary School hosted an open house for its Sensory Room.

The room is filled with equipment that can either calm a behavior or stimulate a student, according to staff members. They say they are seeing a vast improvement in their students who use the room.

School officials say this approach focuses on the whole child, not the child's behavior.
