INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (RTV6) - A tractor-trailer veered off Interstate 65 and slammed into a house on Indianapolis' south side early Thursday.

The crash happened just before 5 a.m. near Raymond and Shelby streets.

The house was vacant, and the driver was not injured. A neighbor heard the crash and called 911 to report it.

Indianapolis police said the truck driver told them that he swerved to try to avoid hitting a small animal, possibly a raccoon.

Crews were working to remove about 38,000 pounds of pork from the trailer.
