GREENVILLE, S.C. (21Alive) -- A trial date has been set for the man police say caused a crash on US 30 in which two women died last year.
50-year-old Scott Saunders appeared in front of an Allen County Judge Tuesday morning. His 5-day jury-trial should begin June 23rd.
Jan. 22 Report
U.S. Marshals arrested Scott Saunders, 51, who is wanted in Allen Co. on 16 counts including reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and criminal recklessness in Greenville, S.C. Wednesday.
The charges stemmed from an incident in January 2013 where a semi-truck driven by Saunders hit several vehicles that were stopped at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Doyle Road. Two women died in the incident and numerous people were injured.
When Deputy U.S. Marshals told Saunders they had an Indiana warrant for his arrest, Saunders admitted he knew what the warrant was about. Saunders will await extradition back to Indiana.
