Semi Crash In Ohio Leaves One Man Dead (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

ANTWERP, Ohio. (21Alive) -- One person is dead after two semi trucks crashed into each other Tuesday at around 1 a.m. on US24 near Antwerp, Ohio.

According to Ohio State Police, a 2007 Volvo semi, operated by Czeslaw Szotek, 53, of Ontario, was parked on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes of US 24 with a portion of the vehicle in the road. A 2006 Freightliner semi was traveling westbound on US 24 and struck the Volvo. Both vehicles were on fire after the crash.

Szotek was outside his vehicle at the time of the crash an received minor injuries. The driver of the Freightliner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ohio State Police westbound lanes on US 24 at SR 49 were closed until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Eastbound lanes remained open.

The cause of the accident has not been determined yet. The investigation is ongoing.
