No School: Batteries Stolen From Mill Creek Buses

September 30, 2013 Updated Sep 30, 2013 at 8:25 AM EST

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. (RTV6) -- Mill Creek Community School Corporation in Hendricks County was closed Monday after officials reported that batteries had been stolen out of several school buses.

School officials made the decision to cancel classes early Monday after determining that there weren't enough buses available to transport students to class. Monday afternoon and evening athletic practices were still scheduled to take place, official said.

According to the school district's website, the bus to Area 31 and South Putnam was not affected and those students will have class as normal.

Few details were released about the battery theft or when the incident occurred.

Classes were scheduled to resume Tuesday.
