FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- To mark Earth Day, a local company is accepting tires, free of charge.
McMahon's Tire, next to Glenbrook Square, is accepting tires through 5 p.m. Monday evening. It's free but you can only drop-off light truck and passenger-vehicle tires.
The owner says dealers usually charge several dollars so it will help save people money and as well as the environment.
"A lot of people just dump them in the rivers and things like that," said John Chilcote of McMahon Tire. "That's what we don't want to see. That's why we are here today doing this. That way they can be disposed of properly and recycled. Put back into the roadways. Tire are recycled now for mulch and put into roadways as pavement. Things of that sort."
