ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Francine's Friends Mobile Mammography Bus greeted charity riders Saturday at Lucky Harley Davidson as part of the Save 2nd Base Ride.

Scotty Wyman, of Lucky Harley Davidson, says the charity ride benefitting Parkview’s Comprehensive Cancer Center is a great way to contribute to the cancer fundraising and awareness cause.

“It's a great way to raise money and raise awareness. We're hoping to have a lot of motorcyclists here. We've had great response on our cancer fundraising rides so far this year,” he says.

One of the participating riders, Vanessa Delcamp, arrived early for the ride to get her first ever mammogram. The Huntertown native said she heard the process could be painful, but Delcamp says her first mammogram went well.

“I went in with a really positive attitude. It was perfectly painless, and I did hear horror stories, but it was nothing like that. It was a very pleasant experience. They were all friendly in there, and I’m looking forward to doing it again in a couple years.”

Delcamp says her family has been lucky in that they have not had to deal with breast cancer but says she has friends and other loved ones who have had to fight the deadly disease.

The ride, which began at 3 p.m. at Lucky Harley Davidson, made stops by Wings Etc. off Dupont Road and River City Harley before ending at the Wings Etc. off of Maysville Road.

Save 2nd Base t-shirts were sold at the bike shop with the proceeds going to Parkview's Comprehensive Cancer Center.
