Dispute Sparks 5 Hour Standoff

Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a lengthy standoff at a city home.

The situation begain after 6 Wednesday night when police responded to calls about a domestic disturbance at a home in the 2700 block of Evans Street. There were reports a man had beaten a woman and was possibly armed with a gun.

When police arrived on the scene, officials say the man went inside the house and refused to come out. Officers then surrounded the home and spent nearly 5 hours trying to negotiate to end the standoff.

Then, around 11:15, officials say the man and woman in the home came out and surrendered to police.

There has been no word yet whether either of them was jailed or charged.
