Rudisill Shooter Sentenced To 45 Years With 10 Years Probation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Josiah Thomas, the man who confessed to the shooting death of 22-year-old Gerelle Borum, has been sentenced to 45 years behind bars with 10 year probation.

Thomas gunned down Borum at Rudisill and Indiana in March. Thomas confessed to the crime and is ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution to the Borum family.

According to court records, Thomas confessed to the crime saying he was driving down Rudisill Boulevard when he noticed Borum walking, he then stopped the car and began firing.

Police said several shell casings were found in his vehicle.

The mothers of both Borum and Thomas testified in court Friday morning.
