May 26, 2014 Updated May 26, 2014 at 9:20 AM EST

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Leaders from Indiana are looking for proposals for a bicentennial plaza near the Indiana Statehouse.

The idea is to create an area that celebrates Indiana's history and would serve as a place to celebrate Indiana's Bicentennial in 2016. Gov. Mike Pence has endorsed the idea and has encouraged the Indiana Bicentennial Commission to consider the project.

Leaders are seeking proposals with a $2 Million budget and asks for materials native to Indiana to be used. Proposals are to also spotlight the 92 counties, include a water feature, a time capsule, and a torch light.
