FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Budget cuts were the main focus at the Fort Wayne City Council meeting last night, October 2, 2012.

Both the police and fire chiefs attended, saying they could get by with cuts in their departments this year, but they see big problems down the road beginning in 2014.

Both departments need to hire more personnel, but can not afford it. Currently the police have 1.37 officers per thousand residents.

Discussions will continue on how to come up with money in the budget to meet needs.
