KENDALLVILLE, Ind (21Alive) -- Reports are coming in that there has been a partial roof collapse at Performance Food Group in Kendallville, Indiana and emergency crews have confirmed an anhydrous ammonia leak.

Reports came in shortly before 11:30 a.m. that there was a possible chemical spill situation in Kendallville. The building has been evacuated and crews will be going in to assess the situation. The plant is located at 2930 Performance Dr. just off highway US 6.

Officials believe the roof came in due to the weight of the snow being to much for the roof to handle. So far, officials believe 30 people were exposed to the anhydrous chemical leak and 8 people are being treated for symptoms.

No other houses or businesses have been evacuated at this time as emergency personnel are still assessing the situation.

Performance Food Group is a food-service industry distributor with multiple locations around the country. The Kendallville plant employs between 1,000 and 2,000 employees.

Around 1:47 p.m. 21Alive was notified that the leak had been contained.
