FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Friends and family are mourning the loss of a loved one after a man was shot and killed on Fort Wayne's south side Thursday.
Fort Wayne Police found the man lying in front of a home on the 3200 block of Oliver Street around 4:30 p.m. suffering from a gun shot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police three people ran from the scene after the shooting. Two of them headed northbound on Oliver Street and one went southbound. But police don't know who those suspects are and, at this time, don't have any descriptions of them.
The victim’s friends and family were very emotional at the scene as they learned of the man's death. His friends describe him as a loving man who didn't deserve this.
De’Angela Waller told 21 Alive’s Stephanie Parkinson he was like a brother to her.
"He was a good person, he never, he didn't hurt nobody. I mean it's kind of crazy though, I don't think I can do this, it's going to make me cry,” said Deangela Waller, friend of the victim.
Police are urging anyone who has any information to reach out to them.
"What we ask is that, at this time, anybody with information regarding this incident, who may have witnessed anything or heard anything if they could please contact the Fort Wayne Police Department Detective Bureau and let them know exactly what you've seen or heard,” said Officer John Chambers, Fort Wayne Police Department.
Chambers asks anyone with any information about the shooting to call 260-427-1201.
