FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – A Fort Wayne couple faces charges after police found a decomposing body of a puppy in their home.

Cameron Marcum, 25, and Chelsey Ormsby, 25, both of Fort Wayne, are charged with felony animal cruelty in connection with their puppy, Tito's, death.

Some time between June and Oct. 2013, police went to serve arrest warrants at the home in the 5500 block of Allendale Dr. when they found the remains of the puppy under a baby's bassinet.

The puppy, said to be no more than a year old, had reportedly been dead for six weeks.

Police say there were bloody scratch marks on the walls of the bedroom, and the door handle had chew marks on it.

Police found large amounts of feces on the floor as well as beetles and live maggots in the room.

Tito’s body was so severely decomposed veterinarians could not determine exactly how the puppy died.

Each person faces six months to three years in jail.
