Man Struck By Vehicle Near Bishop Luers H.S. (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Wednesday morning around 10:30 a.m. police responded to the intersection of Lafayette and Paulding on a report of a pedestrian being struck.

Officers found Thomas Highlen, 56, lying in the intersection and being attended to by a passerby. The man was transported from the scene to a local hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told police that the man was attempting to cross from the northeast corner of Lafayette at Paulding to the northwest corner when he was hit by a vehicle traveling south on Lafayette.

Traffic was rerouted for a time in the area. Currently all traffic lanes are open.
