FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- The rain fell so fast this morning that it washed out a large section of the shoulder on Smith Rd. between Yohne and Lower Huntington.

Drain pipes on the east side of smith road could not handle the volume of water, so the water washed over the pavement and into a gravel pit on the west side...taking the shoulder with it.

Repair crews are working to have that section of Smith Rd. re-opened by lat this afternoon.
