NOBLE CO., In. (www.incnow.tv) --- An early morning house fire in Noble County just south of Kendallville has claimed the life of one person.

The identity of the person has not been released.

The fire department was called out at just before 4 this morning to county road 600 East just south of State Rd 8 to a house that sat well off the road.

When they arrived they found heavy smoke and flames and were kept at bay for a time because of ammunition that was stored in the house going off.

Several area volunteer fire departments assisted in fighting the blaze because of its location and the need to get water to the scene was a challenge.

The burned house collapsed into the basement.
