SULLIVAN, Ind. (21Alive) -- An off-duty Indiana State Excise Officer helped save a man's life who collapsed face first onto the ground.

The incident happened outside the "Sullivan Newsstand" when a 66-year-old man was speaking with Captain Patrick Fulford, and suddenly collapsed.

Capt. Fulford reacted quickly and immediately started to perform CPR on the man. After several minutes, the Sullivan Fire Department arrived and the man had a pulse again.

The man was transported to a local hospital and remains in the intensive care unit. No word on what medical condition caused the man to collapse.
