INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- A new lobbyist group for same-sex marriage supporters has been formed called "Hoosiers Unite For Marriage."
The group is a partnership between the Indiana ACLU, Freedom to Marry, and Liberty Indiana. The group aims to give a voice to Indiana same-sex couples seeking the ability to marry. Indiana currently has five pending lawsuits regarding the recognition of same-sex marriage and the group believes this is a "critical time" to build a conversation about the issue.
Earlier this year, legislation failed to pass through the statehouse that would have put a ban on same-sex marriage in the Hoosier state. That fight is expected to pick back up during the next legislative session.
