New Haven Appoints First Deputy Chief

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (21Alive) -- New Haven's Police Department has appointed Det. Henry McKinnon as the department's first Deputy Chief.

McKinnon has been with the New Haven Police Department since 1995 after serving in the U.S. Air Force and graduating from IPFW with a degree in Criminal Justice. In 2005, McKinnon became the first resource officer at New Haven High school and he has also served as the department's Public Information Officer.

As Deputy Chief, McKinnon will oversee road patrols, work with shift sergeants, oversee the records and School Resource Officer departments, and also serve as a liaison to the Allen County Prosecutor's office.

"I'm anxious to get started and looking forward to working with the road patrol's again," says McKinnon. " I'll also be meeting with and helping neighborhoods and businesses resolve their concerns and issues."

McKinnon's new duties begin Monday, Sept. 8th.
