Mother-Daughter Team Charged For Stealing And Dealing Hydrocodone

WARSAW, Ind. (21Alive) -- A mother and daughter are behind bars after police say they were stealing hydrocodone pills and dealing them.

Jeannine Hart, 44, and Laura Hughes, 21, were arrested after CVS loss prevention alerted police an employee, Laura Hughes, was possibly stealing hydrocodone pills. Police launched an investigation and discovered that 8,000 to 9,000 hydrocodone pills were stolen over an 18 month span. Hughes admitted that she consumed half of what she stole and sold the other half for $5 a pill.

The investigation also uncovered that Hughes was supplying her mother, who was also selling the pills. Laura Hughes was taken into custody and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a level two (2) felony charge of; dealing in a schedule I, II, III controlled substance; and with level six (6) felony theft. Jeannine Hart was booked in on; level 2 felony charge of dealing in a schedule I, II, III controlled substance.

Both are being held on $17,000 surety bonds.
