DeKalb County, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – An early morning traffic stop near Garrett leads police to a meth lab bust near an Auburn elementary school.
Early Saturday morning a K9 officer and handler made a positive location of meth related items and a firearm in the vehicle driven by Kayla A. Reith, 21, of Auburn. As the investigation continued information was obtained that led police to Reith’s apartment where it was said that an active meth lab could be located in the basement of the apartment.
Officers detained Kayla in Garrett while they continued their investigation at her apartment in the 500 bock of South Indiana in Auburn, blocks away from McKenney-Harrison Elementary School.
As police entered the residence Steven M. Slone, 24, of Auburn was taken into custody for having an active warrant out for his arrest. Also arrested at the time was Greg E. Slone, 37, of Garrett for visiting a common nuisance.
In the apartment more drug paraphernalia was found, two five gallon buckets filled meth making chemicals were located and more meth lab debris was found in a burn barrel located in the yard.
Reith was then arrested on multiple drug related and jailed in the DeKalb County Jail.
