Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – A driver is in critical condition after possibly suffering from a medical condition and crashing his vehicle into a light pole in the Ivy Tech parking lot on St. Joe Road.

When police arrived to the location the driver was still located within his 1997 Cadillac. First responders extracted the driver and transported him to a local hospital in serious condition, later downgraded to critical condition.

Early reports suggest that the vehicle was traveling southbound on St. Joe Rd. and was preparing to turn into the Canterbury apartment complex. Witness then say the vehicle accelerated and drove off the road, struck several trees and a large rock before the vehicle turned back onto St. Joe Rd heading eastbound, crossing all lanes of traffic and the street median. The vehicle speed directly into the Ivy Tech parking lot and collided with a light pole.

There were no other injuries reported and the driver was wearing his seatbelt.

At this time, investigators believe that a medical condition may be a possible contributing factor to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
