FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Between massive flames and ruthless winds it was a very busy night for Fort Wayne fire crews as they battled a nasty restaurant fire at the "Paper Lantern" in the 4600 block of Coldwater Road Sunday night.
They were called to the scene shortly before 10:30p.m. Flames and smoke were seen shooting out of the building as crews pulled up. Fire officials say the building was so involved that they were forced to take a defensive approach.
"Obviously with a fire of this magnitude there are embers,"said Fort Wayne Fire Department's Public Information officer, Stacey Fleming,"We're making sure that no other structure or surrounding location are in jeopardy."
Crews were able to put the blaze under control at around 11:50 p.m. They continued to work on any remaining hotspots throughout the night and into the early morning. St. Joe Township fire brought a relief bus for tired firefighters to catch intermittent breaks from the intense cold and rehydrate.
No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
