CLAYPOOL, Ind. (21Alive) -- A farming accident resulted in a man amputating his left arm Monday afternoon, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon on CR 300 E. Police say 59-year-old Bill Linn was working on a tractor and turned it on. When he did so, the tractor lunged forward striking a barn and a pickup truck, in the process Linn's arm was severed just above the elbow.

His son quickly applied a tourniquet that police are saying likely saved Linn's life. He was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
