FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- A Fort Wayne man was in court today to enter a plea for a March robbery and burglary of an elderly woman.
Zachery Doan pleaded guilty to burglary and robbery in an incident that seriously injured an elderly woman during a home invasion in March. According to court documents, Doan forced his way into the home and began beating her with closed fists. He struck her head and throat several times, then stole her purse.
The woman's daughter told police that one of her mother's eyes would have to be removed and the other had a detached retina. It is unknown if she will ever regain her eyesight.
