Missing Miniature Schnauzer Found (VIDEO)

AUBURN, Ind. (21Alive) -- The dog that went missing from a car earlier, is being returned to the owner.

Peanut was taken from the car and then dropped off at the Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control. Peanut was microchipped and when the shelter scanned him they were able to contact the owner.

Auburn Police Department were called out to DeKalb Health in response to a reported theft from a vehicle.

Officers on the scene were told that Peanut, a pure bred Miniature Schnauzer, had been left in a vehicle while the owner helped his mother into the hospital. When the owner returned to the vehicle two hours later, Peanut was gone.

The vehicle was not able to be locked.

Peanut had on a blue collar at the time he was last seen. He is a male, approximately 19 months old and is salt and pepper in color.

Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of Peanut is asked to call the Auburn Police Department at 260-920-3200.
