FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – The 29-year-old man who was hit by a car on Meyer Road north of New Haven Ave. has died from his injuries, according to the Allen County Coroner.

It happened just after 8:30 Friday night. When police arrived, they found Adam Shaw, 29, lying in the road, unresponsive.

They say Shaw had been walking along the road in dark clothing when he was hit by a car. The driver says he never saw him.

Police say Shaw was wearing headphones at the time of the accident. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died from blunt force trauma.

It doesn't appear the driver was under the influence. The case remains under investigation.

Shaw is the 3rd traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2014.
