STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) – A man is hospitalized after crashing his semi-truck Sunday afternoon.

Steuben County deputies say it happened around 12:45 p.m. Sunday. They say a semi pulling tractor-trailer of U.S. Postal mail was heading east on the HWY 20 when it struck the I-80/90 bridge supports of the Indiana Toll Road.

Deputies say the driver of the semi-truck was taken to a local hospital with minor head injuries. The tractor-trailer was a total loss, but the mail was able to be saved.

The driver told deputies he believes the crash was caused by mechanical failure.

No word on the damages to the bridge or toll road.
