INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- A not guilty plea was entered today by the man who stands accused of killing IMPD Officer Perry Renn.
25-year-old Major Davis, Jr. has been charged with once count of murder for the July 5th shooting. No word on if the Marion County prosecutor will seek the death penalty, that decision will most likely be made at a later date.
A 22-year veteran of the IMPD, Renn was killed Saturday July 5 after a shootout with a man armed with an assault weapon, according to investigators.
At about 11:20 p.m.,dispatchers reported via police radio that officer Perry Renn had died from his injuries.
Renn had initially been called to the vicinity of 34th Street and Forest Manor Avenue at 9:24 p.m. in response to gunfire. Renn was shot a few minutes later by a man identified as 25-year-old Major Davis Jr.
