FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – A Fort Wayne man has been charged after allegedly stabbing his mother in the neck last month.

According to our partners in news, The Journal Gazette, Brian O. Abernathy, 25, has been charged with felony battery and two counts of resisting law enforcement after allegedly stabbing his mother in the neck on April 24th.

After becoming irate with his mother, Abernathy took a knife from his pocket and proceeded to stab his mother in the neck. Court documents stated that after his arrest, Abernathy told officers he “heard voices and was paranoid that people were after him.

Abernathy was taken to Parkview Health for evaluation. Officers escorting Abernathy to the hospital were forced to restrain him after he became violent.

Abernathy, of the 2200 block of Fairfield Avenue, was being held in lieu of a $15,000 bail.
