CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Indiana State Excise Police have arrested man for heroin possession at a Crawfordsville convenience store.

Officers were investigating the store due to complaints of drug use and tobacco being sold to minors. Officers observed a suspicious vehicle outside the store and approached two men in the car.

Joshua K. Rector, 33, of Crawfordsville was arrested after he consented to a search and police found heroin on him. He has been jailed on preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.

Usually Excise Officers deal with Alcohol and Tobacco, however in this instance a focus of their investigation turned out to be possessing heroin, which is something they say has become more common.
