WELLS COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- A 28-year-old is facing several charges after police say he intentionally drove his SUV into the Wabash River.
It happened around 4 p.m. Thursday at River Rd. and CR 450 East near the White Bridge. Seth Gehring has been charged with OWI, battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and assault with bodily waste.
Gehring was rescued from the river by fire and law enforcement personnel and then taken to the hospital. He has since been released from the hospital and is incarcerated at the Wells County Sheriff's Department.
According to the Bluffton News Banner, a bag was placed over his head to keep him from spitting on officers.
