FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Lutheran Hospital made a big announcement today, regarding some of its smallest patients.

Lutheran broke ground on it's newest ER, designed specifically for pediatric patients.

The "Lutheran Children's Hospital ER" is expected to be finished by October and will be completely separate from the rest of the hospital, aimed at providing treatment to the children without being too intimidating.

“It's going to be over 8,000 square feet, 7 private exam rooms, a separate waiting area secured from the rest of the emergency department to separate out some of the noises that could otherwise scare pediatric patients," a hospital spokesperson told 21Alive.

Exam rooms will also have TVs with DVD players and video game systems, a rocker recliner and will feature size-appropriate equipment for the children.
