NASSAU, Bahamas (21 Alive) – A young lady from Fort Wayne competed in the Miss Teen USA pageant.

Miss Indiana Teen USA, Zoey Parker, competed for the title of “Miss Teen USA” in the Bahamas Saturday night with 50 other contestants.

The 16-year old placed in the top 15, being eliminated right before the interview question.

Regardless of her standing, Zoey says she's proud to go and represent the state and serve as a role model.

“I never imagined that when I was twelve years old and my eyes were about the size of saucers and i looked at those girls and I said that I want to be one of those girls and now I am and hopefully I’ll be that for some other little girl,” said Zoey.

The Fort Wayne native will be a junior at Canterbury High School and is a self-proclaimed science nerd boasting a 4.2 GPA.

The winner was the contestant from South Carolina.
