FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The St. Joseph United Methodist Church is celebrating its 150th anniversary this September with a concert series lasting all month long.

Amy Cox kicked off the series Saturday during the 5:30 evening worship service. Next week the Heartland Chamber Chorale will perform, follwed by The Remnant and the Fort Wayne Children's Choir.

The church and its members are also taking the time this month to reflect on its history. The church used to sit at St. Joe and St. Joe Center roads before it was moved to its current location at St. Joe Center and Reed Roads.

The congregation would walk from the old site to its current spot during construction, and Associate Pastor Nathan Whybrew says they will reenact the walk on Sunday September 15th
for the anniversary.

“We’re going to bus people down to the old site and everybody’s going to walk back here during the Sunday school time and that’s a pretty cool thing,” Whybrew said.
