FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – The weather over the past couple of weeks has put a strain on city resources to get out and complete the leaf pick up.

Over eight inches of snow blanketed the Fort Wayne last week, followed by the rains that threatened flooding problems.

But now as we near the holidays and the weather turns cold once again, the question is when will those leaves finally leave the curb?

We caught up with a representative from Fort Wayne’s Public Works Department, who says if you still have leaves you call 311 to have them picked up.

“They can put them in biodegradable bags and there will be a schedule to pick those up within two days of the time that they made the call. We will try, weather permitting, to get back into those neighborhoods with vac trucks to be able to vacuum up those leaves,” said Frank Suarez with City Utilities and Public Works Department.

Suarez went on to say, in years past the weather has pushed back leaf pick up in neighborhoods until almost March.
