FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - November may seem far away, but politicians are gearing up for ballot season.
Kelly Mitchell is seeking the republican nomination at this year's convention in Fort Wayne.
Mitchell currently serves as director of TrustINdiana, the state's local government investment pool. She says, she's ready to take on even more.
"I served as Cass County Commissioner from 1997-2004. It was a phenomenal experience to be so deeply involved in my community and to give back on so many levels. I'm prepared, qualified, experienced, and ready to take it on," said Kelly Mitchell.
Mitchell is running against two other GOP candidates. Three-term Marion Mayor, Wayne Seybold, who was also a 1988 Olympic figure skater. As well as Don Bates Jr., a financial adviser from Richmond.
The nominating convention is scheduled for June 6th and 7th at Grand Wayne Center.
