FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Fort Wayne Police may have foiled an armed robbery Tuesday morning.

Officers arrived at the Dollar General on Lima Rd., in White Swan Plaza, just before 8:30 a.m. Once on scene, uniform officers learned that the store had been held up by a lone gunman. The suspect dressed in all black with a white bandana covering his face approached an employee while armed demanding cash. After successfully robbing the store the suspect was last seen leaving the area southbound on foot.

As they investigated the scene, K-9 units picked up a scent, causing the group to move about two blocks southwest to a home in the 9000 block of Village Dr. Officers saw fresh footprints leading to a rear door that was unlocked.

At 9:40 a.m. Alexander White, 21, came out of the home and was taken into custody without incident. No one else was found inside the home. Items believed to be associated with the robbery where located in the home and placed into evidence.
