James Hardy Arrested After Altercation With LAPD

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (21Alive) - Former NFL, Indiana University and Elmhurst High School wide receiver was tased and arrested by Los Angeles police after an altercation Sunday with officers.

Police were called to a disturbance at a Los Angeles apartment complex around 4 p.m. PDT, where Hardy was said to be under the influence of drugs.

Police say Hardy resisted law enforcement, and was tased. Two officers were injured during the scuffle, police add.

Hardy, under police custody, and the two injured officers were taken to a Los Angeles hospital. The two officers were treated and released.

Hardy was booked in the Los Angeles County Jail on Monday morning on a felony charge. His bail is set at $25,000.

Hardy, 28, originally from Fort Wayne, was a standout football and basketball player at Elmhurst High School. He turned his focus to football in college, playing at IU. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. His last NFL stint was with the Baltimore Ravens, but he was released in 2011.
