Jail Closes Its Doors Due To Overcrowding

DEFIANCE, Ohio (21Alive) -- The Correction Center of Northwest Ohio is bursting at the seams.

On Saturday, the regional jail closed its doors to Defiance County after it reached 606 inmates for the entire region. Of those, Defiance is allowed 60 beds in the facility and as of Saturday, the county had sent 65 inmates to the facility.

The Correction Center of Northwest Ohio handles five different jurisdictions.
