CHICAGO (21Alive) -- Anana, the Lincoln Park Zoo polar bear, has said "I think I like it better inside" after temperatures fell below zero.
Anana is the lone polar bear at the Chicago zoo and she was moved into a climate controlled environment as temperatures hit 9 degrees below zero Tuesday.
According to TIME magazine, typically polar bears in the arctic circle live at temperatures 40 below. But those polar bears put on a layer of fat before winter hits. Anana did not put on any pounds because the weather was comparably warmer in the Midwest.
“She doesn’t typically enjoy the very cold much,” Sharon Dewar, zoo spokesperson told DNAInfo.com. “Typically they wouldn’t need that insulation and it would make them uncomfortable going into summer.”
